West Indies won the highest number of T20 World Cup
ICC Men's T20 World Cup is the new form factor for cricket where 20 over (20 x 6 = 120 Balls) per innings are played. T20 World Cup was first played in 2007 in SouthAfrica. The event is generally played every two years. T20 World Cup has been played six times and WestIndies has held the championship title on multiple occasions. Since its inauguration, India, Pakistan, England, Sri Lanka has won the title once and West Indies have won twice. The below picture shows various stats for the T20 World Cup played so far. As we are writing this story, England and Australia have been qualified for SemiFinal from Group A, and Pakistan and New Zealand have been qualified for SemiFinal from Group B (2021 T20 World Cup, UAE).
2007 This was the first year of playing the 20 over innings format World Cup. SouthAfrica was hosting this event.
The final match was played on September 24th, 2007, in Johannesburg between Indian (157/5 20 overs) and Pakistan (152 all out 19.4 overs). India won the 2007 T20 World Cup by 5 runs. Irfan Pathan from India was the Player of the Match. Shahid Afridi from Pakistan was the Player of the Series.
